Are You Salty Enough? Mark Farley May 6, 2023 0 Likes 336 Views Are you “salty” enough?..Salt can change, preserve, and add value to what it touches. But it is up to us to use it—or not…. We can use way too much salt and that can be bad for our health as well as those we cook for. We can also ignore or choose not to use salt and that can also have negative effects on us and others. We are given talents and gifts to use. Like “salt” we can use these way too much or not at all. How are you choosing to use the “SALT” of talents and gifts in your life? Are you changing, adding value, preserving, or just not using it?..Check your experience…“Keep on the firing line of life with these motives and God will keep you unharmed.” Big Book pg. 102 Lord let us use the salt of the gifts and talents You give us to enhance our lives and others, AMEN.“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned?” Matthew 5:13Have a blessed day Y’all! Got “Inner-Net”? Mark Farley May 5, 2023 0 Likes 342 Views The “inner-net’ connection… Plugged in, wired, and networked are terms we associate with our communications these days. I am just glad I no longer need to figure out how to “interface” with folks! Wi-Fi and internet are the connections we seem to chase the most these days as we rely more and more on social media to get our “message” out there to “build our brand”. It sure feels like we need to constantly be networking ourselves to others in order to stay connected in today’s world. How do we stay plugged in to the things that keep us grounded, stable, and secure? What about our internal connection to God and the Holy Spirit? I am grateful that I have been shown and taught to seek quiet time daily, and even hourly at times, to connect with God to stabilize my heart and quiet my mind. When I do this, I become grounded and connected in the right way that makes my day go in the direction it needs to instead of more out of control. How are you keeping your inner connection solid?.. Check your experience… “In nearly all cases, their ideals must be grounded in a power greater than themselves,” Big Book pg. xxviii Lord, let us seek Your grace and guidance daily to be grounded securely in your will and not fall victim to the illusions of worldly clamors, AMEN. “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” Isaiah 30:15Have a blessed day Y’all! My fears and pride are only managed through a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance and growth of my spiritual condition. I know I cannot buy my grace from God. He does not offer it for sale!..But He gives it to us for free when we become willing…Check your experience…“What we really have is a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition.” Big Book pg. 85 Lord thank You for giving us Your Holy Spirit freely when we become willing to receive, AMEN. “And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, saying, ‘Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.'” Acts 8: 18-19 Have a blessed day Y’all! Change Your Mind Mark Farley May 2, 2023 0 Likes 310 Views Change your mind… Have you ever noticed how much our minds tend to magnify the things that are fear driven? It’s human nature for this to happen but it’s sad to see so many of us get caught up in these delusions that are created in our minds as we hold onto these thoughts and let them grow in size and strength. There is no need to become a prisoner of our fears. We can break free of fear’s hold on us by simply changing our minds. Try it! The next time you find yourself being held hostage by fear…. Ask the Holy Spirit (prayer) to remove the fear and replace it with the thought of helping someone else. Give it a try! You can do it and as always… Check your experience!.. “At once, we commence to outgrow fear.” Big Book pg. 68Lord let us use our faith to replace the fear that tries to “divert our minds, AMEN. “…be made new in the attitude of your minds;” Ephesians 4:23 Have a blessed day Y’all! Guard Your Heart Mark Farley May 1, 2023 0 Likes 330 Views GUARD YOUR HEART!We have many things in our lives that keep us safe and protected from harm. From the clothes we wear to protect us from the elements to the various things in our homes, cars, and jobs, like locks, safety glass, and fire-retardant materials, we are surrounded by protection and security. It’s so common and a part of our culture that we seldom think about it. What about our hearts? I don’t mean the healthy food we are supposed to eat and the daily exercise we are supposed to participate in that keeps out tickers physically healthy. What are we doing to protect our hearts from the worldly influences that can cause us to make bad decisions based on illusions of material things that spark the pride and greed of our self -will? How are you guarding your heart from these influences?.. Check your experience… “Here was something at work in a human heart which had done the impossible.” Big Book pg. 11 Lord, let us guard our hearts from the illusions of this world by focusing on Your Will, Word, and Truth, AMEN. “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” Proverbs 4:23 ‘Have a blessed day Y’all! Why Worry? Mark Farley April 30, 2023 0 Likes 330 Views Why worry?.. Schedules conflict, appointments run long, and our responsibilities never seem to end! Now maybe it’s different for you but when I find myself, as I often do, mentally leaving the present situation because my mind wants me to start focusing on where it thinks I should be according to the “plan”, I must remind myself that this is where I need to be and now is where my focus needs to be. Wringing my hands, pacing, checking my watch, calendar, or phone, won’t move the time any faster. I have learned that the root cause of all of this for me is my fear-based mind’s desire to worry. The solution I must force myself at times to grab and hold onto is that God has me right here right now for His own reasons and I need to be awake and present in this moment and not lost in thoughts and worry over my day not matching up with my calendar. Worry won’t change a thing, except to make your present situation more uncomfortable… Check your experience… “Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in God’s world by mistake.” Big Book pg. 417 Lord, let us trade in our worries for your grace and guidance, AMEN. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4: 6-7 Have a blessed day Y’all!
