“Personal” Trainer Mark Farley April 5, 2024 0 Likes 168 Views That Personal Trainer at the Spiritual Gym… It seems just about everyone has a physical fitness routine they try to follow. From gym memberships to hiking, biking, or running, most folks I know are doing something daily to keep their bodies healthy and in shape. The point is that physical fitness involving diet and exercise is now a part of our culture. Being physically healthy is something we need to own but what about our spiritual health? How are we building up our spiritual fitness? The good news is that just like our physical fitness routines, we can keep spiritually fit too. Daily time spent in the Word, prayer, as well as frequent contact with other believers can and does build up our spiritual fitness. What does your daily spiritual fitness routine include?.. Check your experience… “Assuming we are spiritually fit, we can do all sorts of things” Big Book pg. 100 Lord, let us grow spiritually healthy through daily time spent in Your Word and in prayer, AMEN.“Exercise daily in God—no spiritual flabbiness, please! Workouts in the gymnasium are useful, but a disciplined life in God is far more so, making you fit both today and forever. You can count on this. Take it to heart.” 1Timothy 4:8-9 Have a blessed day Y’all! Comfort Source Mark Farley April 4, 2024 0 Likes 190 Views What is your comfort source?.. We have all sorts of things in our lives that provide comfort when we seek them and use them properly. From comfortable shoes, clothes, and chairs, to people, places, and things, when we find comfort, we tend to return to the source of it again and again. Our relationship with God works the same way when we seek Him. He is waiting to help us.All we have to do is grow our relationship with Him and allow His Holy Spirit to become our source of comfort. So…what is your source of comfort?.. Check your experience…. “We could wish to be moral, we could wish to be philosophically comforted, in fact, we could will these things with all our might, but the needed power wasn’t there.” Big Book pg. 45 Lord, let us seek and find comfort in You, AMEN. “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Have a blessed day Y’all! Help Others Mark Farley April 3, 2024 0 Likes 175 Views Whether we realize it or not, we are around people in need every day. Some are in our lives daily, and others we encounter randomly, or so it seems. Now the needs can go from a helping hand, to a warm meal, to just a kind word and a smile. What a difference we can make as followers of Christ, who have experienced His love, by doing good and sharing His grace with others that He so freely and unconditionally gives us…Check your experience. .. “Helping others is the foundation stone” Big Book pg. 97 Lord let the eyes of our hearts remain open to see the needs of others as we go about our day, AMEN. “And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. Being Transparent Mark Farley April 2, 2024 0 Likes 161 Views Being transparent… Isn’t it nice when it turns out that things and people ARE what they seem? We don’t get to experience much of that today, but it sure is refreshing when we do. It seems to be a cultural norm that either we are only seeing and hearing what we want to, or we are being shown and told only what others think we want. It sure gets confusing. It’s a spiritual principle as well as a biblical truth that we are at our best when we do what we say and say what we do. Living transparently allows us to be us all the time and not have to switch characters and remember what roles we need to assume for different people and situations… Check your experience… “There is action and more action. “Faith without works is dead.” Big Book pg. 88 Lord, let us be transparent in our daily lives, learning to be the best we can be through seeking and doing Your will, AMEN. “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18 Have a blessed day Y’all! Trading the Truth for a Lie Mark Farley April 1, 2024 0 Likes 131 Views Exchanging the truth for a lie…Part of being human and having free will is dealing with the constant challenges we face daily for our attention and focus. There are all kinds and types of never-ending noise around us attempting to grab our attention and take us hostage emotionally. We are led to believe by many tricksters and false prophets that their product or service will fix us and make us complete. It never ends, or so it seems...The gift of free will is that we can consciously choose what we focus on and what we allow to grab our attention. The person, place, thing, or situation that we allow to dominate our mind will eventually invade our heart and drive our behaviors. It becomes our God. So the suggestion I want to make today is to take a long look in the mirror and ask ourselves, what or who is our God?..Check your experience…“We had to fearlessly face the proposition that either God is everything or else He is nothing.” Big Book pg. 53Lord let us open our hearts and minds daily to turn our will and lives over to You to be free of the worldly false Gods, AMEN “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator.” Romans 1:25 Have a blessed day Y’all! He is Risen! Mark Farley March 31, 2024 0 Likes 159 Views He is risen, nothing to fear…This Easter Sunday I am humbled with the newness that the Risen Christ brings to our lives. Being reminded of how His death conquered all that drags us down and truly brings me back to the roots of our faith and our freedom. The daily routines, issues, challenges, and habits of our lives can easily distract and pull us away from the life changing truth that is ours on a daily basis. Eternal life is ours for the asking. All we gotta do is ask and believe… Check your experience… “…we had to stop doubting the power of God.” Big Book pg. 52 Lord, Thank you that Christ is risen! Please help us today to walk in the power and grace of the risen Christ. Please let us always seek Your will and not be stifled by our own, Amen. “The angel spoke to the women: “There is nothing to fear here. I know you’re looking for Jesus, the One they nailed to the cross. He is not here. He was raised, just as he said ….” Matthew 28:5-6Have a blessed day Y’all! Sunday’s Coming Mark Farley March 30, 2024 0 Likes 160 Views Sunday / Resurrection Day is coming! … Even though we seem to see a lot of questioning, and political challenges to our Christian faith today, Jesus faced even more intense opposition and persecution during His time. The various leaders of the time were out to protect either their religious and or military power. They were determined to not let this popular renegade named Jesus become a symbol of challenge, start a cause, and bring cultural change. Thank goodness even their best efforts could not stop the power of God! Empires have tried to bury and destroy the gospel for centuries, but no one can keep Jesus’ body in the grave. His resurrection power lives on and is spreading across the earth! It’s apparent in the lives of all who believe and take Jesus as their personal Savior. All I can share with you is to compare your own life before and after you accepted Christ as your Savior. My life is blessed beyond my wildest dreams since I began walking with Jesus and following His Word many years ago. …..Please, check your own experience…. . “What seemed at first a flimsy reed, has proved to be the loving and powerful hand of God.” Big Book pg. 28Lord, thank You for Jesus and the promise of eternal life when we make Him our Lord and Savior, AMEN. “So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first. Take a guard, Pilate answered. Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.” Matthew 27:64-65 Have a blessed day Y’all! What if you had a person who coached and mentored you in building a better life? What’s So “Good” About It? Mark Farley March 29, 2024 0 Likes 156 Views So why is it called GOOD Friday and not Friday MOURNING?.. If today is the day that Jesus died on the cross, what is so good about that? Because of something so very bad happening on this day, we have all received something eternally and forever good. The tragedy and horror of Jesus’ death followed 2 days later with His resurrection resulted in the eternal and everlasting opportunity for anyone and everyone who turns to God, through Jesus Christ, to be forgiven from their sins and to receive eternal life. So the great part of today is that what happened long ago can give anyone who asks eternal life. Those of us who believe and receive this know from our experience of getting to know Jesus through His Word and because the Holy Spirit enters our life and shows us a whole new way to think and live…. Check your experience …. “To us, the Realm of Spirit is broad, roomy, all inclusive; never exclusive or forbidding to those who earnestly seek.” Big Book pg. 46. Lord, thank you for the ultimate sacrifice for our sins to give us eternal life, AMEN. “When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” John 19:30 Have a blessed day Y’all! Choosing Our Words Mark Farley March 28, 2024 0 Likes 148 Views Choose your words…Words can either heal, help, or hurt, depending on how we choose to use them. One of the things we can’t recall, rewind, or take back are the words that come flying from our mouths fueled by fear, anger, or other emotions of the moment. I have learned painfully over the years that it’s best for me to not let the emotions of the moment inside of me fuel my words. I have found that when, instead of letting my emotions of the moment lead the charge of my “verbal vomit”,..I quietly give the words to God and let the Holy Spirit guide my emotions and quiet my will, so that I can use better words for the situation…Check your experience…“Patience, tolerance, understanding and love are the watchwords.” Big Book pg. 118 Lord let the words we choose be fueled with love, kindness, and encouragement, AMEN. “The right word spoken at the right time is as beautiful as gold apples in a silver bowl.” Proverbs 25:11 Have a blessed day Y’all! Looking to Give Instead of Get Mark Farley March 27, 2024 0 Likes 156 Views We get out of it what we put into it…Here is a twist of thinking I learned long ago that has not only helped me to grow as a person, and as God’s kid, but also has helped me to be more in tune to the needs of others. It’s very simple. Instead of seeing what I can get from every interaction I have with people, places, and things, I see what I can bring to it. The feeling is amazing and the outcome is usually better than I expect, plus I have gotten to know people on a deeper level! It changed my perspective and now instead of having expectations of how I think things should go, I now have blessed peace just looking to see how I can help. Go on, give it a try and as always….Check your experience… “But be sure you are on solid spiritual ground before you start and that your motive in going is thoroughly good. Do not think of what you will get out of the occasion. Think of what you can bring to it.” Big Book pg. 102Lord, let us see what we can bring to a situation instead of always looking to see what we can get from it, AMEN. “Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them.” Matthew 7:12 Have a blessed day Y’all!
